    Hey all,

In an attempt to fix a sever battery drain that has started within the last few days, I've done a security wipe of my PlayBook. I've been able to connect back to my PlayBook through Windows Explorer by both USB and Wifi to the Media directory, however when trying to create a new folder under the media directory I keep getting an access denied error that I've never had before.

If I connect through the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, I can see all the folders and files created there, but still can't create a new folder under the Media directory. How do I get access back to be able to create folders in the main media folder?

As far as I know you cannot directly create a new file or folder in the "media" folder.. You should be able to create anything in any of the other folders which are already present though..

I think you are right - I just tried and could NOt do it - "need permission."

We must have been able to at one time as I had a "bookmarks" folder created in the Media directory. Maybe this was a default folder that was already there for the original version of the PlayBook OS?

I believe that is correct. Have you tried creating the folder ON the PlayBook using a third party file explorer?

I think that default bookmarks folder must have been created from an earlier version of the OS as it wasn't created when I did a wipe and straight install of the latest version.

Interesting. We need some more folks to say what Folders do exist? Since there's been no known purpose for some of the folders, I can see them doing away with them.

    Here's mine:

Perhaps the Bookmark folder is created when you install one of the Ereaders.

I've installed the Overdrive Media Console but nothing there. I remember the Bookmark folder being there even before I installed any apps at the beginning. The upside is that it appears the wipe and reinstall has fixed the battery drain for the most part. Only thing is Battery Guru reports battery health is down to 87% after being at 94% for over a year.

Neither the Books nor Bookmarks Folders (they are lower case in real life) do or did anything. Print was like that until they added Print-to-go and now files are saved there.

Yeah I know they didn't do anything, but I used the bookmarks folder to store my html bookmarks file that I open in the browser. Not a big deal, I was just more wondering why I couldn't access and modify the media folder as I was sure I was able before the wipe.

Kobo Books is preinstalled. Maybe it installs when you open that up.

Just tried that and it didn't work. While I can't say that Kobo doesn't create it, I can say it never created it in this instance. I'll just have to chalk it all up to my imagination that I could edit the Media folder before.
