Michael Clewley posted recently when asked about the AC3 codec that it is on the roadmap for the PB although no date is given for the inclusion. I would not be surprised if it is not until BB10 on the PB that we get to see it.

If you watch the BB10 Jam conference video session on multimedia, there is a slide that listed AC3 to be in BB10.

That's always been the plan. Problem is, it isn't here yet.

I'd rather have DTS than AC3; there aren't that many BluRays with AC3 audio, DTS was the clear winner of this beta/vhs battle, so even with AC3 support, I'd still have to re-encode 90% of my movie backups.

Just change the extension to ".mpg". A vob is really just a high def mpg file. :-)
