Kalemsoft Media Player. Plays anything, even AC3. But for that, they should have to pay for the licence, so that partially explains why the app is not free. It does the job, though, great player.

Get it!! It's well worth the price. I've been watching all kind of movies from Kalemsoft. No more file error from the stock player. Best yet you get to resume to watch at any point from your last stop.

I have Kalemsoft and have been very happy with it. Another option (though I don't know if it plays AC3) is sideloading MPlayer. I've got it as well on my Playbook and have been pretty impressed with it, but still default to Kalemsoft as it's a native app vs an android app (little less laggy).

While Kalemsoft does play subtitle files, Kalemsoft does not currently play subtitle files if they are located on a dlna drive. They are looking into supporting it. While I have not tested, they say if the srt file is on your local device, it can find and play them for videos on dlna devices.

    Excellent app.

Since the app is a bit expensive, I've seen some reviews and they all said that it needs to be always online! Have i seen it wrong?

So my question is, can i watch the videos on THE PB while offline??

Yes you can watch videos that are stored on the Playbook without being online.
You can set up a server at home and watch videos on the Playbook from anywhere in the world that are stored on your home computer but you don't have to.

I mostly watch my movies store in my playbook. No wifi needed.
Unless you are ready to move on to another tablet. If you use your playbook a lot to watch movie for 7 bp it's not expensive at all. Especially if you load those blue ray quality movies. No more frustration from the stock player. As you know that BB is not providing anymore update for the playbook. A few quality apps will certainly extend the usability of this device.
