I have a Torch 9800 OS 6 that I bridge with my PB. I am just wondering if there would really be enough of a difference to warrant upgrading to the 9810. Does anyone have any firsthand knowledge to share?
For me the upgrade was a very fine choice. I rarely use the Bridge except for reading e-mail. The phone itself boasts a much better screen and faster processor. Enough for me to use my upgrade for the 9810 and pass the 9800 to the offspring.
OS7 devices have better BlueTooth so yes, they would be better since they would be able to keep the connection stable and with good data rate speeds in worst condictions than OS6 devices.
Using the 9650 and now the 9930, it is faster, but the main limitation right now is bluetooth itself. So yes you'll see a slight improvement but not huge. However the 9810 is a MUCH nice version of the torch. I had them overnight my 9930 because i couldn't stand my 9650 any longer and I must say I've been much much much happier.
i had the 9800 and now the 9810. I have not found much improvement in terms of the speed of the phone. It does occasionally hang and require a reboot. App switching is marginally faster but I've still done my fair share of waiting.
However, the data speeds are improved and browsing is noticeably faster, whether on the phone or on the Playbook through the bridge. I do have my PB bridged 90% of the time. The bridge works very well but I do find that battery life with the 9810 is not as good as the 9800. Although, I am hopeful an OS update on the phone may improve that in the future.
