I updated my torch 9810 to the 7.1 leaked release. I have since tested the wifi hotspot and the bridge performance for web stuff. I am happy to report that the wifi hotspot significantly improves the speed and performance of the browser. You can also review and install apps from app world as well. This is a great step forward for mobility. The one catch is that you still need bridge to connect to any in-house severs, applications or file shares via BES. When doing this the speed is reduced to the <1.5 Meg limitation of blue tooth, even though you have the wifi enabled.

My testing on Bell Canada put my speed around 3.5 to 4 Meg via the hotspot. This is great when compared to <1.5 on bridge.
