Well after much contemplation, went ahead and grabbed me a 64gb version too. Right now I have a 32 and my wife a 16, so once the 64 gets here and I verify all is good with it...I will be posting a for sale ad for the 16. I am thinking about $185. It's in perfect condition..not a scratch on it

This is a new one... never seen this in all my readings on crackberry. My Order status move from Cancelled: 08/01/12, to In Fulfillment: 09/01/12 and apparently now its on Export Hold: 10/01/12 - whatever that one means.

I am thinking of buying another one (64GB) as spare. I already have two 32GB's. One for me and one for my little boy (2 1/2 yrs old).

    Yes, mine is dated 030311.

It's my understanding that PB PINs started with 500. Mine is 500ED0D0 which would mean my PB is number 970,960 built if RIM didn't skip any numbers.
How do you get 970,960 from 500ED0D0 (or ED0D0)? Not saying you are wrong, I just don't know how you did it. Tried Hex to decimal but not even close.

You must be doing something wrong. ED0D0 hex = 970,960 dec

    14 * 16^4 + 13 * 16^3 + 0 * 16^2 + 13 * 16^1 + 0 * 16^0 = 970,960

Don't worry. My order was marked shipping with the same "POS" comment -- an unfortunate choice IMO. lol

Theoretically, that comment will change to a tracking number shortly. However, my PB was delivered and then a few hours later the tracking number showed up. Oh well! It was very fast though.

Good to hear they are fast So far that seems to be the case as I ordered it late last night. Was yours a good one? No pixel probs, back bulg, or issues?

Yes, at least mine was crazy fast--wasn't expecting it for at least a week. Anyway, I'm very happy to report that I have no dead or stuck pixels (checked with screen helper), no back bulge and a raised, easy-to-press power button. So I lucked out.

However, the only real deal breaker for me would have been dead or stuck pixels -- everything else I can live with. I was nervous when I opened the box.

Right on friend that's great to hear! Forgot about the power button issue. Thankfully my other two are fine all the way around with no issues. So am hoping the same goes with this one too! Agreed on dead pixels, that's a no go.

I purchased mine on shop blackberry.

I just saw they have the playbooks on sale here at my local Office Depot for $299. Too bad I didn't see this earlier. Oh well I'll just have to wait. At least I saved on taxes.

    OK, thanks for the correction.

Interesting number, if true. Almost a million made by march 2011. Production continued for at least a while (lots of April 2011 date stickers) after that. Lets say over a million anyway by May. Interesting implications regarding whether any PlayBooks at all have been produced for a very long time.

Not many, if any. By the calculations I have seen, sales (at least without Christmas) have probably been below the number of Playbooks produced. The only thing this means for certain, though, is that RIM geared up to sell a lot more Playbooks back in Spring 2011 than it was able to sell. Now, even if production has ceased, it can presumably be started up again relatively seamlessly, if there is demand to meet.

    I believe 'POS' means Point-Of-Sale.

I wrote a post elsewhere in this forum where I speculated this could be RIM trying to expand the market to the size where it tips the scale to the side where developers see a large enough market to be interested in it. I truly hope we are seeing that strategy with these prices.

As to all models at the same price, that is clearly an inventory adjustment. Too many 64 models so make it the obvious choice.
I'd say the pricing is a gimmick. Nobody is going to buy the 16 or 32 at that price.

And I think you're right that RIM wants to build a user-base. Get around that whole chicken-egg thing.

So can anyone explain?... Is "Export Hold" a normal part of the shipping process from shopblackberry?.... That has been my order status for two days. My basic understanding from google is something that has to do with restrictions and as usual I cannot get through to customer care.

I have actually been to St. James Winery in MO and this wine is not bad.

Now, time to go order my $299 64gb PB to go with my $99 16gb PB, unless I decide to sell it, but it would make a good backup I guess...
