Well, this caught me by surprise today. I received an email from Amazon.ca saying I might be interested in buying a 64GB PlayBook.

Only 6 in stock and 'on sale' for $299 ($400 off!).

What I thought was interested is that it wasn't a reseller/marketplace vendor, but actually Amazon.

Anyways, maybe this has been there for a while but it brought back memories so I thought I would share. I still have my 64GB and 32GB PlayBooks which I've loaded up with games and movies for the nephews.

for the 64Gb, I might be interested at the 200 mark. But like PK said, not at that price for sure. Especially since it is EOL.

People get ready there is a update coming before the end of the year. With a estimated 15k-17k new playbooks still in box expect these tablets in few supplies to start showing up at online vendors and stores John Chen and BlackBerry has a plan to sell the remaining stock with a couple of upgrades that will have people shining up those dusty tablets os 2.2.1200 is coming soon. It's not dead yet actually very much the opposite.

I don't have a official statement or a direct link to this being the truth. The only thing I do know is this information came from my cousin who works for Blackberry as a Marketing Operations Specialist and a few weeks ago he told me over video chat on our playbooks. So it's just a rumor but it's coming from my very reliable resource at blackberry and he actually has a solid white playbook 64gb that was never released to the public. So I'm going to go with my good cousin on this and wait for the surprise.

A white one turned up on the PlayBook forum back in January: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...ly-one-949904/

Hope that lik worked if not then Google white blackberry playbook.

In another note, not sure how genuine our friend above is. He only joined Crackberry on November 20th the same day the rumours about an update started. All of his posts so far were regarding this cousin of his and this update whose number turns up nothing when you search for it.

I think he is just another troll having a good old laugh at everyone who might actually care if there was another update or not.

In the past when an update was imminent you would know about it from a number of sources in the forums. This time it's just this one guy talking crap...

I saw some NIB PBs on Rakutan (Buy.com) a couple of weeks back. That surprised me and I thought of the "God's" claim of unsold inventory. I just can't understand why BBRY is always so secretive if an update is pending. What advantage is it? All they have to be is more transparent and I'd respect them more as a company.

With the Playbook, they haven't been secretive about pending major updates, since developers previews were released before both OS 2.0 and 2.1 were officially released. We all knew they were coming.

I'd be really shocked if it was 2.2. At the most runtime, browser update, security update. But surely they could disclose this if pending in the next couple of weeks.

If there was an updated runtime, that would be major. If I remember correctly, the main difference between 2.0 and 2.1 was the much improved runtime, so a new runtime could justify a 2.2 version. Possibly no developers previews were released for 2.2 since there are few developers left for the Playbook (plus an updated runtime has been tested on BB10 devices). But we need to keep in mind that there is only one person claiming that an update is coming, and his contact is in marketing, not software development. In any event, I guess we'll all know by Christmas, which is only a couple of weeks away.

All they need to do is add BB10 Android runtime and strip out the PIM. You can load all the PIM crap with what you want from android and it will make the PB more powerful than 50% of the Android tablets out there.

The PB was decent before the PIM bogged it down.

I am really, really, really certain that there will be no significant update for the PlayBook whatsoever. Virtually no one uses them. It would be an utter waste of BlackBerry's resources and John Chen certainly isn't stupid enough to commit to something like that (if he were, then oh dear).

I think there are more users than you think. I was expecting this forum to dry up and die but it is still pretty active with the faithful.
Just hoping that the relationship between "God" and his cousin is good and the cousin isn't jerking with him. LOL.
And at least we have a date and not the BBRY "soon".
Maybe they got wind of the "petition" and wanted to do a little customer appreciation.
