Currently 4G in Aus is only available on the 1800 MHz band (Telstra and Optus).

The new 4G PB does not contain that spectrum in its specs ...... and RIM haven't mentioned selling into the Aus market in their various country promo material.

Anyone know if other spectrums can be added to the device - or are they hard wired?

ALSO - it means that anyone travelling to Aus won't get their 4G reception - but will fall back on the HSPA+ / 3G Wifi capabilities provided they have our bandwidths in their PB.

PS Apparently the telcos will bid for the 700 bandwith when it becomes available on the Aus market later this year, and other spectrums as they are released.

    Correct.

Research In Motion has stated more versions of the PlayBook 4G will launch to comply with various countries and network types. Right now this is limited to a Canadian launch but in the coming months you'll see the PlayBook in different variants to support these networks.
