Interesting but is that a reasonable measure of actual browser speed? My PB browser is often slow and checker boards. I'd be very surprised to discover it is truly faster than iOS.

as far as I know html5 tests are not about speed but how well the browser sticks to html5 specifications and how much of the specs it supports..

It isn't faster. It just loads more websites the way that they were intended instead of showing mobile versions.

I'd take a few less points if they can speed this thing up. The browser speed is frustrating.

Compared to the previous 2.1 (the beta), it is, indeed, faster.

HTML5 is great on the browser but JavaScript is just terrible, disgusting, and outrageous!

this all counts for nothing when rendering speed still pales in comparison to desktop. My web pages still get to me faster via remote desktop compared to direct. Also.. Flash has not been updated to current version. Meaning Scene 3D still is not supported, meaning hardware-accelerated 3D in Flash isn't going to happen. Basically RIM's version of Flash is a good 6 months behind. AIR is also not current.

Also, consider this.. does BB10 browser support WebRTC yet? how about Pointerlock API? Just how well is WebGL supported? All of this is already coming together on Android, meaning Chrome or Opera Mobile are still going to come out ahead in comparison to BB10's browser, where it counts.

Why are you comparing a tablet browser to a desktop browser for, when considering that on desktops, the newer browsers are using the graphics card for rendering which is a lot more powerful than the graphics chip in the tablet. Case in point, when was the last time you seen someone compare a tablet graphics chip to a Nvidia 670GTX?

even with OS2 my PB browser was faster then my 4S on iOS5 WHEN I disabled js & Flash (on some pages, others iOS still won). The problem with iOS is that it doesn't load half the page. People get excited that it's so fast but forget that part of the reason it finished loading so quickly is that it didn't load half the stuff.

I have yet to compare my 4S (still on iOS5) with PB OS 2.1 but as 2.1 is faster then 2.0 I suspect it would win again.

I agree, they have definitly improved js on the BB10 browser but it's still not great. I believe I saw a report that sunspider gave BB10 on the origional Dev Alpha around 1600 while iPhone 5 got around 1000 (keep in mind this was from an ifan site)

    PB OS 2.1.0.1032 Gets:
    Total: 2239.5ms +/- 1.1%

So BB10 will definitly Be an improvement, but they are all still WAY higher then my computer with it's more powerfull Graphics Card....

    SunSpider 0.9.1

    IE9
    Total: 351.4ms +/- 1.0%

    FireFox 15
    Total: 319.7ms +/- 4.2%
