Since the 16GB PB is being EOLed, this kind of sale is perhaps expected. The question is, "can it sell for even lower?"

The real question is how much gb will be left on a 16gb Playbook after it gets BlackBerry10?

I planned on getting a PlayBook this sunday. Office Depot sales end saturday and the closest one is a hour away. FML i am going down to that area on sunday.

But now to the topic of staples. They do not have any on their website that i could find and i called the store near me and they do not carry them.

Sent from my BlackBerry 9930 on Verizon Wireless.

All the major stores in Canada dropped the PB prices another 20 bucks on all sizes awhile ago.Personally would go for a bigger GB.
    Bestbuy.com as refurb 16 GB for 129.99

A $159 PB would make a better iBabySitter than an iPad in the sense that if it gets broken, you won't get as heartbroken. Though I do not condone using electronics to keep infants "engaged". They should interact with real people and tactile objects.

Be careful that staples doesn't try to charge you an $80 setup fee to "optimize" your Playbook.

Just say ur gonna call corporate HQ and they will back off with that BS setup fee if they try to "persist" also I would try to price match bestbuy/futureshop for additional 10% less!!

I find if some store wants to push a setup fee on me. I tell them that I'm a computer programmer and don't need the help . that normally shuts them up! or tell them this will be my forth playbook and they will go oh okay

Yes! I got the email too... $159 DOORCRASHER on Sunday August 19 ONLY!

Regarding how much memory will be left on a 16gb Playbook, there will be TONS left! A brand new playbook with OS 2 has at least 14gb on it free, if not more. That means the OS is <2gb, probably even smaller.

*Even* if OS10 is much larger (and that's a BIG IF) it may inflate at most to 3gb, which is still leaving you with 13gb.

And just remember that BB10 phones have to run the same beast, so I HIGHLY DOUBT they would make BB10 so big and heavy and slow that it would eat up that much room, especially considering it has to run on a phone which needs to also last a full day on a single charge.

Hence, QNX is fairly sleek and optimized and I *DO NOT* think for one minute that the sale is motivated by any flaw or defect in the design and need to offload it only because it is 16gb. I think that RIM stopped making them, they do not want them back, and are willing to let them fly out of stores just to clear the shelves.

Hopefully this will kick up the BEFORE-SCHOOL sales a notch and get lots of people to own one!

How can you beat this price!!!! It's awesome!!! (I already have 2 playbooks but this is making me want to buy a 3rd!).

Yes, I will be getting one as my second PB to experiment with the PB OS 2.0 beta.

I love the .668 OS on my first PB. Everything runs much faster.

This deal at Staples must be for Canada only. I just looked at tomorrows ad on Staple web site and I don't see a Playbook in their ad.

    Am I missing something?

Got my second PB 16G for $149. Loaded 2.1.0.840 beta. Absolutely no problem.

    1) tried video chat with my other PB (2.0.1.668), each on a different network, works great!
    2) unified email is very handy, collect all my emails from different accounts all on my Playbook.
    3) contacts works great with Google contact. It syncs automatically.
    4) calendar works great with Google calendar. It syncs automatically.
    5) email works in portrait mode.
    6) Osmand turn-by-turn with rerouting works.
    7) Google apps run in individual windows. If low in memory, Google app would not start and stay in a black screen. Go shut down other tasks, Google app starts.

Overall, I am very happy with the Playbook capability with the 2.0 and 2.1 software. It is a very good bang for the buck. $149 for PB16 in Canada.

Playbook 2.0 is fighting back from the bad image of the Playbook 1.0. It is better late than never.

    P.S.
    2.1.0.840 boot time - 2:02, 2.0.1.668 boot time - 2:13 (power cord in)
    2.1.0.840 boot time - 2:21, 2.0.1.668 boot time - 2:35 (power cord out)
