When I go to download it via BlackBerry, it gives me a link to download the aim app for the Pearl but then immediately says my phone isn't compatible.

When I did some research, it says that the Verizon Pearl 8130 isn't compatible with AOL Instant Messenger.

Is this true?

Any other suggestions?

AIM is not yet supported on the Verizon 8130... Until it is, and the correct service books for Verizon are avialable, it wont work.

When AIM is available for VZW, it will be listed on -> http://mobile.blackberry.com (visit from your blackberry's browser) This page detects your BlackBerry model, and displays only items for your device.

I have the same problem. I've been using EQO as my IM client. It does the protocols I need and it's free.
