Give it a day, and you'll see a marked improvement.

You don't have to. I wrote this to be the optimum way to upgrade, with the least chance for failure.

Does this only work on windows? Can I use this on Mac as well?

You would need to run a windows virtual environment or parallel to use the programs necessary in this guide, on a Mac. Borrowing some time on a friends Microsoft PC would probably be easier. There is PocketMac, but its capabilities are limited. Here's a good article describing its limitations:
RIM BlackBerry Desktop Manager v. PocketMac: Macs and BlackBerrys, Part I - CIO.com - Business Technology Leadership
Sorry, I'm on WAP right now, so the link is mobile. If you can't get it to work, google PocketMac.

It says east Asia? I don't want to download it and its not the right one.
    I'm a newbie. lol

    Hey Bigbadwolf
Here's a valid question or two:

1)Is there a reason to download that specific OS that you've linked to instead of-say the official OS of one's carrier? Example: I've also downloaded the latest OS from blackberry's site but it's specific to my carrier which is Rogers wireless. The link you've posted directs to indosat OS download. Does this have more goodies and apps or something?

    2) If I decide to upgrade to MY carrier's specific OS, do I still have to delete the vendor.xml file?

Thank You for your time Cheers!

    1. Your more than welcome to download any OS of your choosing. I recommend the one on the link because it's the most stable 4.5 OS so far. It contains no significant additional features from any other 4.5 OS, but memory stability is the #1 issue people have.

    2. Deleting the vendor.xml file is only necessary when the OS is not from your carrier.

Completely unrelated, I love the "cheers". UK accents are the cat's meow!

Man I gotta stop doing that!
I wonder how many people from other forums assume that I'm from the UK..... lol

Anyway, I assume that if I installed the OS that you recommend, I'd lose the Rogers Theme/wallpaper, right? I have the Red pearl, and the rogers theme is red, and I've also installed blingball and have set IT to red.

Not-to get off topic but in theory could you "steal" a theme somehow off of one carrier's OS and use it on another OS? I'm sure that there are other third party themes that have red as their default color, but I'm just curious....

    Thanks BigBadWolf!

Yes, you can move the theme file from one OS into the other, provided you can identify it, though my preloaded themes have remained from my carrier thru many OS upgrades from others.

Awesome! Thanks for the info BigbadWolf!
Gonna give it a go in a couple of days. It's a matter of outweighing possible issues after OS upgrade vs OS improvements. I've read too many "help my phone won't ( insert issue here) after 4.5 install____dead this and that____yada......."

LOL! So I'll mull it over for a couple of days. Again thanks for the info, and great tutorial!

As long as you're aware of the automatic connection and either don't have it enabled or pull your internet cable you'll be fine.

Sorry, I'm installing a new hard drive in my PC, and a little distracted. Yes, 4.7 has a live connection feature. If your not aware of it, after you use CrackMem, it will seek out and replace everything you've removed. That's why I don't want people using it. 4.7 is only necessary for a 4.7 OS.
