when i downloaded the new v4.2.1.96 and i connected my blackberry to the desktop it did not prompt to update my software on my phone? is there a way to manually do this? and if it is Application loader when i load that it says there is nothing to be done.

Im not hijacking the thread or anything, but I'd like to add to cohdeys question.....

Will installing a new OS delete all of your personal effects on the 8100 (ringtones, pics, contacts, etc..)?

Delete the vendor.xml file

Start>Search "vendor.xml"

Or program files, common files, Research in Motion, App Loader and it will be down at the bottom.
