Whenever I sync/back up my Pearl, it always shows that there will be like 119 deletions to the address book and 120 additions. The only thing that has been done is 1 addition - no other changes. This is my personal BB, so I don't need it necessarily to sync with outlook, but that's where my info was from my Palm.

Does the DM always delete all and re-add all contacts? What do I need to change to fix this?

If I don't sync with outlook, but I do do back ups regularly, will my contacts be saved?

That is just what syncing does - it's normal. If you are only adding 1 or 2 contacts, you could simply enter them manually on the BB.

And yes - all contacts are saved during a backup.

I just don't want a repeat of what happened when I switched from my Treo to the BB...all the last names got saved as first names and vice versa...it was clearly all the Treo's fault ;-)
