I just got my Pearl 8110 about a month or so ago and today I tried to go to YouTube to see if I could see steaming media. To my surprise and disappointment, I was unable to view it.
Are there any settings or applications that can allow streaming video to be displayed?
This little querk has me seriously doubting whether or not my choice to go with the 8110 over the iPhone was the right decision. Dont get my wrong, I like my BB. I just wish I could figure this thing out and make it even better.
In order for youtube to work, your device must be running at least OS version 4.3 or newer, and the emulation mode in the BB browser options should be set to BlackBerry.
I am looking at my configurations and it seems my emulation mode is set to blackberry. Where can I check the OS version? If I go to "about" it says v4.3.0.93 (Platform 2.6.0.53), not sure if that is what I should be looking for. I am a newbie at this blackberry stuff. If it is OS 4.3.0.93 then that would mean that all my settings are correct and I still cant see streaming media?
Anyone have some words of wisdom that could help me? Thanks!
I tried clearing out the cache and then tried numberous different videos, without any luck at all. Essentially my new expensive BlackBerry does me less good in regards to media than my ancient Sprint phone used to. =(

Try launching the browser, then going to options, then browser configuration, and turning on 'allow embeded media'... if this doesn't work, you will probably need to update to os4.5 or...
Go to main option menu from the application launcher, then select advanced options, go to TCP, and enter the AT&T APN name... CAREFUL, though, you might incur data usage charges doing it this way, but from my understanding when you update to 4.5 one of the new service books enters the info already for you/ emulates the info being entered.
I do not have AT&T, personally... with my carrier(Whom I work for) I had to manually enter the APN name under the TCP settings. This is what the data specialist in my company told me I needed to do to get the 4.5 streaming video to work since BB didn't set up a service book for our company with those settings.
