not through sms. That is the text messaging standard, not a limitation of the phone itself.

also is there a way to turn caps on permanently?

Well the only way i seem to get my caps to stay locked is to Press and "HOLD" the Caps lock button then Press the END CALL Button in your email or text screen and it will take you to the main screen with the caps button still on when you return to your text weather email or sms it will be locked until you press the caps button again
