I'd like to have a password on my Pearl but it seems like it's all or nothing with Blackberry. I turn on the password in the Security options and it asks me for my password for almost everything it does. Basically I'd just like a password for when you turn on the phone or after a certain length of inactivity. Is this possible?

No, it isn't. The built in password is all or nothing but you can set
the security timeout for anywhere from 1 minute to one hour.
