Hey all.

I want to update to the latest OS, especially because I want HTML email (any word on whether or not it also helps memory leak?).

However I am a little skittish. Does upgrading the OS break any kind of service agreement with Alltel? Is it 100% recoverable? If the phone breaks and Alltel finds out if I have a newer OS, will that void any warranty?

Not as long as you load the OS provided by the carrier.

I have had the new OS on my Alltel Pearl for quite some time with no problems at all! MMS and everything works.

I have the new AllTel OS as well and all seems good! MMS messaging is a very important add on feature with 4.5.
