I make my own ringtones, I use Audacity, of course. I've tried several different things:

    Changing to mono/stereo quality.
Changing bitrate to 96, to 128, to 112.
Adjusting output volume by doing db cut/boost.

They just sound fuzzy and terrible, like on a 5 year old phone. Any suggestions to make them sound clear, or is that just how they come out on Blackberry?

    My recommendations for Audacity are:
    1) Use the Fade In and Fade Out filter so the tones don't start
    and end abruptly.

    2) Play with the High Pass Filter. This will make a world of difference

    3) Minimize the Bass a bit. The speaker in the phone is not really
equipped to handle heavy bass and too much makes the tone a mess.

    4) If it is not loud enough there is an AMPLIFY filter. Get to
    know that one too.

Can anyone sketch out the process you are using with Audacity? Not having any problems creating a 30" clip, however, I am not able to export in the MP3 format and cannot get the Lame encoder to download in any useful format.
