I am seeing the unread email indicator whenever a new email comes and it gets distracting. How do I remove that so the only way to check if I have new email is click into the email app? I tried going into messages/email, options, but there's nothing on 'hiding new email indicator' as others have briefly mentioned on their 8100s.

    Thanks!

How old is the device? I suggest looking for a newer OS, and installing it...

I have the same version as you - and the option is there, in between "Display Message Count" and "Hide Filed Messages." It's indented from the left side a bit so it might be easy to miss when you're looking.

ah yes that makes it clear. I had to move the "display message count" to "unread" and now the "display new message indicator" toggle shows up.
    great.. thanks!
