Hi everyone...

It's time to upgrade my mom from a LG Shine to a new phone. I went to the Bell store and all the "non" smartphones suck...flimsy and creek!!

She does not really text yet...but she is young and hip and wants to learn...

Is the pearl a good choice for a beginner?

I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

The Pearl flip can be quite a good device to break into the Smartphone world. My wife started on the 8130 Pearl, and has graduated to a Tour. She really loves having the BlackBerry. She didn't like her previous devices nearly as much, but honestly
, neither did I.

or if you can (and she has time) take her in or sit down with her at a pc and let her look at some of the models, see if anything peaks her interest and go from there.

I think it would be great for her it will be easy for her to text with the SureType key board. The flip is my all time favorite blackberry and I have had them all. The nicest think is the size and it looks like a dumb phone.
