so the pearl light on my trackball is not lighting is there a way to turn it on?

Well I'm not sure, but you can try turning the automatic backlight off, that usually seems to turn mine on..

Is the room dark enough? Put your finger over the led on the top right of the device and see if it turns on.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. I pulled the battery and the light worked fine after that.

The pearl light will automatically go on (along with the keyboard lighting) if you are in a dark enough room. It seems to keep that setting even if you go into a slightly brighter room. But when you go under a bright light or outside, it will change settings and you will notice your pearl light and keyboard lighting go out and your screen will go to 'super bright' mode. The opposite will happen if you start in a bright room then go to less and less light.
