Can the SureType be turned off on the 8130?

You can change to multi-tap when you are in a message and I am pretty sure it stays that way for the next time you type anything. Just hit the BB button and then scroll down to multi-tap hope that helps

Welcome to CB, tell your fam to give Suretype a shot. Everyone hates it at first.
Go to note pad and just type random sentences. The trick is to not pay attention to the screen, just let it do its thing. Once you get use to it, it's half the key strokes of full qwerty and really fast. Good Luck.

I didn't like suretype at first either. Then I started texting with it and got real good. Now It's all I use. I can't go back to multitap if I wanted to.

Welcome to Crackberry. I also hated suretype at first but I love it now. Once you get used to it you can tyoe really fast. Give it a shot and your family members may love it.

I agree with giving SureType a try. It works great for me and is very good at getting the words right.

Yes I thought I would hate suretype @ 1st but i used it and havent went back!
Its kinda hard for me to use multi tap because the letters are arranged as if they were on a real keyboard and I forget that so i prefer suretype and it also learns the way i type!
