Like I was talking about here, I believe that RIM should not futz too much with the general formfactor and shell of their more popular handsets. That being said, researching the new pearl or having the opportunity to play with one, how do you find the new pearl compared to the old one? Thanks.

Well, let me out it this way... Even though the curve isReally outdated in terms of hardware and there are nicer looking handsets, quit a few people still prefer to use the curve, but now it's getting really obsolete.

The 8100 Pearl body feels chubby compared to the 9100 Pearl. The 9100
reminds me of a phaser from Star Trek... its so slim and tapered, it seems
very futuristic.

Any way possible to get a clearer picture. Photo looks pretty blurry.
rim did a wonder with the new one.im so leaning towards getting it. come on at&t, what is the release date? i want a new berry.the old 8100 was great back in the day.
Just held a dummy unit 9100 at Best Buy for the first time today. The main reason I've been so loyal with my device {even though I've gone though 5 of them} is because unlike all the other bb's, mine actually has buttons that were big enough to use. I've been so hyped for the 9100 to come out that I'd have the bigger buttons "and" have the reliability of any other bb all in one. Well the 9100 still has smaller buttons then what I'm use to, at this point I'm still sure I'll end up with one.

Going by that photo it seems the 8100 is a little bit wider, so I will have to see how slim the 9100 is in my big hands...
Wow, I had a chance to play with this phone today and I have 3 words for it, smooth, slim, and solid.
It feels and look durable and it's heavier then the old pearl. It doesn't look like a cheap toy at all. I'm not a small screen fan but the girls will love this new sexy phone.
there is no way RIM will not sell this phone in the states. it was there 3rd best seller, it would be idiotic if they don't.
It's not up to RIM. It's up to the carrier. After the Flip actually flopped, the carriers may want to stick by the full QWERTY and touch screen models. That seems to be the direction of the industry. Large screens and full keyboards for everyone.
