Instructions for installing:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of Desktop Manager installed. It's 4.2 SP2.
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

Have some patience, this will take 30-60 minutes to complete. DO NOT unplug the device until it is finished!

Follow this thread to unlock all vendor themes.

kasperapd, what is the improvements in this OS? My Os is 8100M_PBr4.2.1_rel148_PL2.3.0.77_A4.2.1.94_Rogers. exe. The upgrade is a good idea?

Well, I don't have a Pearl so I don't know for sure. However, with every new OS released, it fixes some bug or glitch. It may be something you haven't seen or noticed yet, but I'd say it's worth the upgrade.

Just finished installing it on my pearl. There were a couple glitches I noticed. I'll let everyone know what they are and if the new update fixes them in a couple days.

Please can you tell me is worth upgradeing to new OS. Yesterday I upgrade to that last Rogers version (94)...

Ok I guess it's been a couple days now. With the last update (The Rogers one) I noticed quite often my home screen would show the Rogers banner but when I moved into messages or call log, quite often the Rogers banner would be replaced by "Searching for network" even while I had full service. That's gone with this new OS update. Another one I noticed is when I would hold down the * key to lock the keyboard, quite often the screen would hang for a few seconds before locking. That one is also gone with the new OS.

The other glitch I noticed with the Rogers OS, and I'm not sure if this was the network or not, but my phone would constantly switch between EDGE and GPRS in the top right corner. With this new OS it seems to stay on EDGE alot more often.

In my opinion the upgrade is definitely something you want to do. The phone seems to run alot smoother with this one.

I upgrade just now. But I didn't noticed those bug when I had Rogers update...

The upgrade is working flawlessly on my 8100 so far, installed last Friday.

Does this upgrade work regardless of your carrier? (I have Cingular...I mean the new AT&T...actually, I think it is just AT&T now...)

Oh, Yes Cheddar,, it does work with AT&T. THat's my carrier and everything is great.

I am using Blackberry pearl 8100,i tried to upgrade OS,followed the above steps exactly,but when i connect BB to To PC,and after opening Desktop software,it is not prompting for Update.Can you please help me.
