    I have a blackberry pearl 8100 Tmobile. I tried to download the upgrade handheld software. I currently have V4.2. Tmobile does not offer the upgrade yet. When I installed the software where you delete the vendors license my phone kept rebooting itself. I am wondering if there is a way to fix this or should I wait until tmobile comes out with their own version?

    IVE tried that multiple times for my pearl and it didnt work. I do have tmobile also.

    Strange. You both could try Tmobile Europe release 4.5.0.69 I had that for some time, it's multilanguage and very stable

    At least you will have a 4.5 then and you will see what difference!

    I downloaded the 4.2 service pack 2 and have no idea if I need the serice pack sp2 or just the 4.2 for the pc software.
    I have a 4.2 8100 pearl.

    Hi Aztecaa.
    I'd say you skip the service packs (makes me think of the M word) and install a recent OS (4.5.something) on your device and DM on your PC. You will find the links in this 8100 section

    I was able to install 4.5.102 on my pearl with DM 4.6 and xp service pack 2

    This download is from Rogers but will work on ANY carrier's 8100 model BB. (Not 8110, 8120 or 8130)

    1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

    The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
    If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

    I am also having some trouble with I believe the new 4.5 it seems to work real slow when clicking on the camera icon or address book. I also do not have my TO DO LIST any longer ...
    Also my led light stays on constantly after putting in the colored one. I had to turn off , on the phone to get it to go out. I then just had the led turned off all together for any messages or calls.
    Is there something else I need to do?

    Recently upgraded to 4.5. The Colorpearl no longer works and now after being alerted to an email coming in the led indicator now stays on, and is red. the only way to reset it seems to be to turn the phone off and then on again.
