There is also the OS superpages

That superpage doesn't list the 8100, they suggest going to the regular forums (here, or the general OS group) for "older" devices.
The one from AT&T is the most recent official version out there - being 4.5.0.182 (package 4.5.0.306 if you're hunting it down). Works great for me. It was released in January of this year.

Yes. You just need to delete the vendor .xml file.

Newest 8100 OS: 4.5.0.255/4.5.0.162 (EastAsia)
Post #2 above already mentioned that one. And it's NOT the newest. It's a good 6 months OLDER than the AT&T release.
However, the Blackberry Forums site for the 81xx does have a link to a newer OS from T-Mobile Germany. It's as follows:
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.313 (Multilanguage)
for the 8100 model only
Package Version: 4.5.0.313
Consisting of:
* Applications: 4.5.0.188
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.110
* File name: 8100M_PBr4[2].5.0_rel313_PL2.7.0.110_A4.5.0.188
* File size: 93MB
It apparently came out last September. How I missed it when I still had my 8100, I don't know. And how Crackberry never saw it, I don't know.
Here's the link to the site with the download link.
