yes, it's a upgrade from 4.3. i would recommend updating to that.
.89 runs much faster than .77. It is very noticeable how much smoother and quicker the OS is. However, I did find that when switching to column view from page view in the browser, you get an "uncaught exception: Index - 64883 >= 2048" on some websites, but not all. After a standard install (without docs to go) and no 3rd party apps, I'm at just over 22 MB free. Overall .89 is very nice. Aside from the browser error, seems nice and solid with no memory leak (at least within the past hour I've had it installed).
Why would they take it down? Could it be that it's defective? Or maybe once it gets posted here and they get thousands of hits they know the score and take it down?
Either way I would like to see what it does and if it makes my phone more stable. Is there any way for me to get it?

Can anyone confirm that this is a bug with the OS and not with just me phone? It gives me the error while browsing this site in particular. And yes, I drive a Corolla...
Alltel has officially released 4.5.0.89 for the 8130. Yes, this does allow pic/vid messaging. It also has a few other features like photo geo-tagging, docs to go, 8 gb memory card support and bb maps static display. Installed this to five pearls so far and every single one of them test perfect for the mms. It's an official release available on the rim download page or from Alltel's software site which is Alltel Downloads
