    Software For BlackBerry Pearl (TM) 8100 smartphone

    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.246 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version: 4.5.0.246
    Consisting of:

    * Applications: 4.5.0.153
    * Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
    * File name: 8100M_PBr4.5.0_rel246_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.153_Etisa lat.exe
    * File size: 93.51MB

    Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

    Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...4A920FC53D9564

    This download is from Estisalat but will work on ANY carrier's 8100 model BB. (Not 8110, 8120 or 8130)

    1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded. (Vista users be sure to right click on the .exe file and select "Run As Adminstrator.")
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

    The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
    If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

    A beta is OS in "test" form. As long as the numbers are the same - the OSs are the same.

    As long as the #'s are the same, there is no difference. The Beta and Official will be exactly the same.

    That may be the latest and greatest your supplier/provider offers. but this the latest and greatest RIM offers.

    So what's the word on this one? I'm still using .81, wondering if there's any reason to upgrade. How's the camera? How is speed and stability in general?

    From .81 you will notice a much better memory stability, greater FF memory, a faster browser. Those would be the key points off the top of my head.

    Open your message folder, scroll to the top, press menu, select "mark all as read". Should clear it.
