    This has been out for a few days now, but haven't seen it posted on here yet:

    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.1.102 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version: 4.2.1.102
    Consisting of:

    * Applications: 4.2.1.66
    * Software Platform: 2.3.0.57
    * File name: 8100M_PBr4.2.1_rel102_PL2.3.0.57_A4.2.1.66_TIM_Ita ly.exe
    * File size: 72.87MB

    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...190CAAD5802983

    If you're not using a TIM Italy device, make sure you delete the Vendor.xml file before trying to install on your device.

    This supposedly combines some of the 8800 OS features into the 8100. It also has the DST Patch built in.

    Ok. Loaded this OS on my wife's Pearl. Had a problem with the browser at first. The way to fix it was to delete the T-Mobile IM service book. If you have T-Mobile, you'll have to do this to get it to work, not sure why, but once deleted, everything works.

    The OS seems to be much more responsive and faster. It now gives you the ability to separate SMS/MMS out of your Messages folder. It also gives you control again of the Auto Dim. Basically, it seems to have added several of the features that are found on the 8800 OS.

    The only downside I have found is that when using the T-Mobile Zen theme, when you hit the menu, it no longer comes up in the list format, it is now a page of icons, just like the 8800 version.

    If anyone else tries it out, post what you find to be different.

    Very handy to know....although, i wonder if you would need to delete the carrier IM to make it work on every network... ?

    Seems to be only a T-Mobile issue so far. Or at least, T-Mobile users are the only ones reporting any issues.

    I did get a chance to play around with the Pearl, and the OS has improved the function of SureType now. It is much more accurate.

    I hope you know, because of you, Kasperapd, when I go into work tomorrow, I will grab my 'test' 8100, and install that O.S! I must not make the mistake by showing it to anyone at work, or I'll just have more work on my hands...

    Well, I get to play with new things all the time at work. So, today, unless something major breaks this morning, that's what I'll be doing, playing with an 8100...

    when you go to preview the preinstalled ringtones it will crash with that oh-so-common Uncaught Java error. Also when you play back videos, the first few seconds are screwy when they used to play just fine before hand. We have confirmed this with several users from different carriers on the other boards. Kinda disappointing

    Well that's no good. I haven't heard the wife complain about anything issues on her Pearl yet, but I'm not sure she's had time to test out the media player yet.

    there are quite a few lil bugs I've found with the new OS:

    -typing "www." causes BBM to kick out and give error msg
    -BBM pictures sent/received get transformed into the smallest dimensions no matter what size it was previously
    -when viewing the smallest picture settings through picture viewer it pushes window to the right
    -video playback format is even more finicky than before
    -memory card will randomly stop being able to be written to and need a hard reset
    -some calls you can hear person but they can't hear you and you'll need to hang up and recall
    -can not send/receive mms while connected to any of the port 80 type programs (jivetalk, ramble, IM+, etc.)

    just the few that are off the top of my head.
