I am new to this forum and a new blackberry owner. I defected from Palm, but having a little trouble adjusting.
My biggest problem is not being able to install 3rd party apps from desktop manager. After viewing other posts on this forum I installed the latest version of the desktop manager. I am downloading the most recent version of the device OS now, even though according to "about" on my phone I already have the newest version number. Should I install it anyway? And if I do will I lose anything I already have installed to my Pearl?
You don't need to install the OS to your BB, just D/L it and install it to your PC. Sounds weird, I know, but it needs to be there for the App loader to work.
And Welcome to CrackBerry!
if you already have the latest then theres no need to over ride it.
It might not install if it detects your current os now. As been newer. As far as 3 party apps goes when I always did an install it ask if you wanted to delete.
Apps I have a mobile check book on my 8830 and when I do install of the os it keeps the app but erase the contents.
