    Can anyone help w/ info..
I just purchased the blackberry pearl 8100..and i wanted to get a big memory card for it..For instance there is the new Sandisk..6GB micro sdhc card..
First off i want to know if the phone can hold that big a card..and secondly..it only mentions Micro SD cards..this is a new Micro sdHC card..will the HC be a problem??
Also I read today ..that blackerry's will support up to 8 GB of memory cards..
"Currently, BlackBerry smartphones support media cards with up to 8GB of memory. MicroSD media cards with 4GB and 8GB of memory require BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry Device Software 4.3 or later."
    Where does one download..4.3???
I hope someone out there can PLEASE help me..I've been searching all day long for info and tech support for the phone..

I have recently purchased the 8100 and had the same question re the card.
I have been told that the SDHC card will NOT work in the 8100.
I'd like to be told they can, but that has come from Sandisk itself last week.

    re 4.3, I can't answer that.

    Blackberry literature is soo confusing..
So then how can Biackberry say that the 8100 supports up to 8 GB?? As soon as u get to 4 GB and above...it turns into a SDHC micro card..
    Its soo confusing!!!

FWIW... The CrackBerry store advertises 8100 compatibility for this 6GB (apparently) microSDHC as well as a 4GB. Are they mistaken? (sorry, I'm not allowed to post the URL since I'm fairly new to CrackBerry forum.)

I need the exact same info. Can a Blackberry 8100 use a 6GB microSDHC card? They have one on sale over at Tiger Direct for about $84. I did a tech support chat with the rep at TD, but she really didn't seem to know anything about the subject.

OK - it is not device dependent; it is OS version dependent.

The only OS version that can support 6GB (or 8GB) is version 4.3 or higher. There is no v4.3 for the 8100.

The 8100 should be able to handle 4GB, as long as you are running an up to date version of the OS.

BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8GB
