I waited and tried upgrading to the 4.2.1.109 first I didn't notice any change. I bought a stereo BT headset before I relized it woulden't work until at least 4.3. I waited several days telling myself to be paitent...I coulden't wait! I was desperate to have A2DP functionallity. The new email features were tempting so I took the plunge.
Someone here provided a link to the TIM Italy 4.5 file downloadable from Blackberry. Just install delete the vendor.xml and wait about an hour or so and bingo. I don't see the thread with the link and I don't know what the link is I couldn't link it anyway I'm only at 5 posts (I need 10).
Pros:
So far so good, all my apps are working, even my camera. Email looks cool, the media player is better and A2DP (stereo bluetooth works!!). There is a mouse pointer in the browser now!
Cons:
Minor stuff. The red LED indicator comes on solid and won't go off. Not a prob for me as once I turn on my bluetooth device it blinks blue like it should. There should be an option somewhere to turn it off all together.
Also, my walpaper on my apps screen is split between the theme I'm using and the default theme, but I haven't even tried to fix it yet.
I was onboard the first leaked beta, when it was still named 4.3. Tried .46 and .52 when it came out, but couldn't live with the exposure problems on the camera, and the red flashing LED not turning off when I viewed my missed calls.
Just loading .18 on now, seems like the camera works, and I'm hoping that the red LED problem will also be solved. All I need is proper LED and A2DP/Media, Camera or anything else is not that big a concern.
been 3 days now with .52 and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only prob is my colorpearl is stuck on white other than that the media player format is awesome. got the BOLD theme on there so when the BOLD comes out the transition will be easy.
Yeah, I heard that, but Color Pearl isn't on my list of applications nor installed . Tried a full wipe and calling then, same LED flash problem on .18, .46, and .52. May be just me though
the only thing i found is the color pearl. the new easy type is pretty neat. i use to be a mobile PC person, and loved that feature. but glad RIM got on track with that.
that dayumn LED suck. but like someone said, put bluetooth on and your good.
and that you can make folders to move stuff in, giving your screen a real custom look if your using icons is pretty neat.
beside that, im good with it. dont care for the cam, so im cool on the whole upgrade. plus, the themes are so much better and fun to make now!
I found this theme, it's specifically for 4.5 (Don't install if your not running 4.5). The icons on the home screen are, Messages, Media, Browser, Profiles and Address book. The icons on the home screen "bounce". Very clean. THe BB button takes you to apps.
I cant link, but google this; com_plazmic_theme_BB_9000_Bold_Zen_8100 and I bet you will find it. I think I D/L'ed from Pinstack.
Has anyone experienced the camera fault (ie black at night and white in daylight) with 4.5.52.
This bug was on 4.5.32 and I wondered if they have fixed it with this?

Yes it still has this problem. I believe it will be fixed in the next version of the 4.5OS.
i was jumpin between BB sites and it seems that any apps like color pearl and x_color event cause the LED to go solid when opening email or sms if you are running 4.5...did anyone notice it still acts up even when your BT is on??

so is there anyway you can like mix and match an os with another......like cut and paste the camera info from the last working version and put into 4.5?
i use my camera every day for work and now im lost!!!
I went under my "normal" profile and just turned my LED off for each function. One time it came back on, rebooted and it went back off. Until the next release I guess I'll have to live without my little light
As far as the camera, I'm sorry, but the camera sucks anyway. It's only good for taking pictures of accidents on the freeway...lol
why are yall using this OS if it has so many flaws? whats so good about it
Big browser and email improvements (mouse pointer, HTML, pictures). A2DP functionality (for listening to audio in stereo using Bluetooth. Better predictive text (tries the word for you, really nice for big words), improved media app and the 4.5 themes look neat (Ok that's subjective).
What did I give up? A blinking light and a crappy camera, oh and if color pearl is important you may wanna wait...lol
