I've been reading about different problems with different size microSD memory cards, and I was just curious as to what the largest size was that the blackberry supports properly?

If you have 4.5 OS you should support 8 gig.

The newer devices/OS's will indeed support up to an 8GB card.

The AT&T firmware has a 4.2 system software. Can I upgrade the software to 4.5 without losing the AT&T branding on the firmware?

AT&T currently does not have an official 4.5 OS release.

So I would lose the AT&T branding if I did upgrade then? Also does 4.2 support the 8GB MicroSD cards?

More storage is always better than less.

Upgrade to 4.5, I did on my AT&T phone and it looks and acts largely the same except for the obvious enhancements.

That's my philosophy, and it probably won't take me long to find things to fill it up with anyway. Thanks for the info about 4.5. I'm assuming its the multilanguage version on blackberry's site?

look to post #1 in the 8100 forums, it is the first stickied one, has a link from the site, also read up on proper upgrade/ downgrade procedures before you try it, feel comfortable with what you will have to do, so it will minimize problems

if you are going to do it, 4.5.0.81 seems a bit more stable than 4.5.0.69

the 4.2 OS supported a gig for me, when i got 4.5.0.69, i purchased an 8gig off amazon for around $25 (us)
