    i never had to format mine and all you do is allow mass media storage when it comes up and then you can use your blackberry like an external drive and drag and drop media into it

    I believe if you go to options > media card, then press menu there is a choice to format.

    Go Settings, Options, Advanced Options, Media Card, press the button to the left of the roller ball, should see format card..

    voila... shouldnt need to format unless its been fromatted to something ELSE...
