I was using my BlackBerry to record quite a long video, when the battery died and the phone turned off.
When I managed to get the phone charged and on again, after not finding the file in the 'videos' folder in media, I plugged it in to my computer and searched through the files.
It is in fact there with the correct date and size, but the file type says 'LOCK file'. Is there any way to retrieve the video, or am I doomed?

Thanks so much for any help!

First thing, extract the file with the lock from your BB to your PC. Rename the extension and/or file to that of a normal BlackBerry video file name (e.g. VID 00002-20100624-1335.3GP).

Test and see if this plays.

Failing this, you likely won't get the file back. Wiki gives a really good overview on why a LOCK is used, when it is used and what happens when it fails:
