    2. Install/run OS to PC
    3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
    5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

    If you have DM5.0 installed, you need to search the hidden files for vendor.xml. It will install a ghost copy somewhere on your PC.

    I'm on v4.6.1.234 with Vzw and I've downloaded and installed the update file listed. I've deleted the vendor xml file under apploader with W vista 64bit(not sure that matters) then when I launch the DM nothing happens, go under update software it searches with no luck no updates for this device. Could I be missing something?

    Thanks

    I am ON Sasktel and I can't get this to load on my Berry. Am I missing something? I didn't delete the vendor file because I assumed I didn't need to.

    Let's see if I can help. Yes, if it's your carrier, no need to delete the vendor.xml. If it's not your carrier, I'm guessing your using DM 5.0, so you have to search the hidden files for the ghost vendor.xml that's installed. Other than that, don't use DM for the install, use loader.exe, found here:
    Program Files->Common Files->Research in Motion->Apploader

    I finally managed to get this onto my Flip and I've been using it for a few days now. I honestly haven't noticed any difference whatsoever. Has anyone else noticed anything?

    Wait, now I've noticed that my custom ring tones for all callers were gone. Did a backup and they're still not there. I'm just going to readd them, anybody else notice this?

    One difference for me is that prior to this download I was having a minor problem...when I would charge my phone the time indicated would freeze and I would have to either do a soft reset, or turn the phone off and than back on to restore the current time....with the new d/l this has not been a problem.

    Nothing yet for Telus either. Still lists software package 4.6.1.422 which has device software 4.6.1.284. I hope 5.0 will be out soon...there are rumors on here that it might be in Jan 2010. Even though if that is the case why bother updating unless there's a serious issue? I guess only time will tell.

    For one thing, it fixes a major bug in the previous release. Even though the phone shows "in range" there was a bug that actually told the server the phone was "out of service" and emails were held. (I fought this for 2 months until being told this last week finally, and that the new upgrade would fix it.) The only way to "wake it up" was to "send" an email from the phone, and then the server said, "oh, you're REALLY in range?" and then sent the emails that had been held. Net/net the new release fixes this particular bug. thx.

    I'm running it without any noticeable problems, like other posts - I don't really see much improvement. I do like holding the menu key and having the task menu pop up. I'm pretty sure that didn't work before.
