last night my pearl had died (literally away from a charger for several days), and after it had died a drink was splashed on me, barely grazing the phone. i wiped it off, and field stripped it to dry over night.
this morning the battery's water damage sticker had changed colors so i replaced the battery. the keyboard however does not work. the trackball rolls, it will not click and the phone will not recognize when i press a button. is there a way to take the keyboard apart so i can clean it or any other kind of insight?
Hmm. If it was pop, residual sugar will likely keep the device sticky. I'm not sure you'll be able to salvage the phone short of completely disassembling it..

Take the battery out, wait a few minutes for the capacitors to unload and give it a brief swim in denatured alcohol. If it was soda the sugar will corrode every bit of circuitry it comes in contact with. Blow it out with canned air, and then bag it up with rice.
Good luck!
