    I have noticed that my keyboard lights do not come on all the time. Are they on a sensor? Like, when there is ample light the keyboard doesn't light up, and when it's dark they will light up.

    i previously had the pearl, and i think its on the same sensor as the backlight etc.

    i think it lights up when it gets dark to a certain point? im not positive, just what ive noticed personally

    Yeah the 8130's I know have a light sensitive LCD. It has two stages of brightness depending on how much light the screen is exposed too.

    It works pretty well, actually. Very cool.

    Just tested this out, it is on a sensor! I pressed a button to activate the screen (in a bright room) no keypad light. Stuck it under my desk (still activated) Keypad LED springs to life! Very cool and energy efficent, must save a heck of a lot of battery power!!
