I just got my refurbished blackberry pearl 8100 off Ebay, in the mail. I manually put all of my phone numbers in with the area code, every time I try to call someone in my contacts it adds +86 to the front of it, and says I'm trying to make an international call. But, when I take the area code off, it works just fine and calls.
Howdy! Click into call logs, click Menu, scroll to Options, select Smart dialing, highlight Country code, scroll it up to +1, escape, and save. Someone had the +86 country code in and you can just change it back.
