I'm upgrading to unlimited texting on my current family plan with T-Mobile and I want the option of having AIM on my Blackberry but on the Blackberry website, it says I need a data plan. If I just have a texting plan, can I still install AIM and use it with no other charges?

Also, my sisters have Samsung phones and have the IM programs already. Can they simply just sign in and use it with no other charges as well?

You'll need a specific Blackberry plan that allows Instant Messaging such as AIM and others like Yahoo etc. Not sure what it's like on T-Mobile but for Rogers Wireless in Canada I added a Value Pack which includes unlimited texting etc. and instant messaging (including BlackBerry Messenger) but no data downloads.

When you have the correct Blackberry plan, your phone will be sent "service books" which tell it what features you can use according to your plan. Other features that fall out of your plan will either not be visible on your phone or will not work.
