    How can I get the icon I want on my screen? I've been doing this by process of elimination: "hiding" application after application, thus obtaining desirable and often used icons on the screen. But Gmail eludes me!

    There must be an easier way?

    Did you install the GMail software? If no, then having it added in BIS, all emails will go to Messages anyway, so no need for an icon, per se'...
