    Last night after I cleared my voice mail, the little tape icon never went away and vm is empty.

    I tried a battery pull and checking my vm 5 more times

    Is there a way to manually clear it?

    Call your phone from a different line and leave yourself a voicemail. Then, go in and check your voicemail, delete it, and the icon should disappear.
