I read somewhere that the USB is 16 megabytes/sec, is this true? For me, it takes about 8 minutes to transfer over 400 megabytes. I am using the standard cable that came with the phone as well as the USB 2.0 ports my computer has. Has anyone else noticed the slow speed? I have 8gb micro sdhc card.

16 megs/sec that would be ridiculously crazy!!!!
on the usb 2.0 it should be around 2-4 mbps and it also depends on card type

USB 2.0 has a raw data rate at 480Mbps
but ever getting that speed is like walking on water

going directly to a usb memory stick is around 30 mbs

but considering all Jhill is right with around 2-4Mbps

I guess this is one of the instances where wikipedia is wrong... from the 8130 page...

"BlackBerry Pearl 8120 and 8130 have one of the world's finest USB sideloading performance.[citation needed] Their sideloading architecture upgrade from 8100 provides them with Hi-Speed USB and ultra fast connection to the microSD card, capable of transferring 1GB file in less than 70 seconds - over 16Mbyte/stransfer rate. As seen in the following EETimes article[2] - this transfer speed significantly surpasses that of the iPhone, Motorola RAZR or Sony Ericsson Walkman. Per the article, this is because 8120/8130 uses the Antioch chip from Cypress Semiconductor - a Westbridge peripheral controller enabling "direct connection between peripherals, creating ultra-fast transfers".

maybe not wrong, but i guess the keyword is "capable"?

I have also noticed faster transfer rates on my desktop over my laptop.

sometimes it tells me i have a usb 2.0 capable device on my laptop and to plug it in a usb port that is already 2.0

but that is like if my zune and cordless mouse are plugged in aswell
