And how did I even manage to turn it off in the first place? I just opened up the browser and suddenly Flickr became Dlucje, and everything else was similarly wrong. Is there a key combo that toggles the SureType?

You can probably click menu and scroll to enable suretype to get it back.
Sounds like you might've inadvertantly enabled multitap, but I don't have enough Pearl experience to figure out how you did it. I just had to learn enough to help my wife figure hers out.

the Curve series doesn't have SureTrype, I think.

Compose an email or text. Then hit the bb button and select 'Enable Suretype' and you're good to go.

try starting a text message, press the menu button, scroll to enable suretype, press the trackball to select.

Thanks, there it is! Although, I'm confident I never turned it off that way. I wonder if there's a crazy key combo that did it. Like the caps-call button and return technique for enabling caps-lock.
