    Hi all,

Can someone please help me with this?

I got rid of the blackberry plan (Rogers) and put on a simple data plan.
I don't use BBM just the browser (Google maps doesn't work as
    well without BB plan)

I use Opera Mini and What'sApp. They stopped working recently
however, the regular BB browser still works.

I called Rogers and they said that RIM is now restricting
    internet traffic through their servers.

    Is this true?

How can I get my apps to work again?
(or force them to go through the internet not BIS)

    Thanks in advance!

You need a BlackBerry Data Plan if you want to use BlackBerry Data features which includes the Google applications.

No one is "messing with you".

3 days ago I could use Opera Mini and What's App WITHOUT a blackberry data plan (just a regular data plan or even over WiFi)

    now I cannot.

Blackberry dataplans are 5 to 10 dollars more per month on top of my Internet Data Plan.

    Seems fishy.

Does anyone know how I can get these apps running again? Are there settings (APN etc) to change?

    Thanks in advance.

Opera Mini works fine on WiFi with the cellular radio turned off. But You Will need a BB data plan associated with your phone "Per The Carriers" to use the phone. They did this to prevent people from buying Blackberry's/Phones under contract and then canceling the data plan before the contract is expired.

Get used to it and move on.

The OP probably can make calls and use some internet sites via WiFi. A generic data
plan won't help much though... better to get the BIS plan again.
