Hello,
i am trying to access music from a media card that my brother had in his T-Mobile shadow... my phone is picking up the media card but not showing any of the music from it... how do i access the music?

Try this:
From media screen, hit menu>> explore>> media card. see if you find it that way.

If all settings are correct, try a battery pull as it will refresh your media player.

I have a 8100 and I uploaded some music from my itunes via usb cable, I dragged the song into the "ringtones" folder once my blackberry icon showed up onto the desktop. However when I try to retrieve the songs from the media card folder in the "ringtone" option in my blackberry its empty, but when I connect it back to my mac it shows up?
