i have a BB pearl 8130 for the Verizon Wireless network. i know that Verizon is stingy about GPS so i got this. since crackberry won't allow me to post the link, the ebay item number is 260270298010. it will connect and then disconnect. i heard that you have to change the port from serial to comm1. how do i go about doing that as i have search everywhere on it.

I have the 8130 with Telus in Canada, and my pearl has GPS build into it. If the 8130 model that you have is the same.. it should have GPS built in, and you shouldn't need an external Bluetooth GPS unit?

I also have the 8130 from Telus, however the major difference between our phones and his is that we are on CDMA (which comes with GPS) whereas he is most likely on GSM (which comes with Wifi instead). Hence he would need a GPS receiver.

As for setting it up, sorry but can't be of much help

Oh I didn't know that.. Thanks for that tid-bit. I didn't realize they had the 8130 model in GMS I thought the 8110 and 8120 where GSM and the 8130 was stricktly CDMA

my phone is a CDMA and in the US, Verizon Wireless purposely disabled the GPS so that their customers have to pay to use the GPS. i wanted to bypass that because i am cheap like that. someone with a Moto Q changed his port from serial to COMM1, am i able to do that with my BB Pearl?

*sad face* at Verizon Wireless for diabling my GPS.
