Ok well. I finally got it to install. They added a layers thing and login ability. However it will not get my location. Not by nearest tower and the option for Bluetooth GPS is gone so far I don't like it. It just says location unavailable. Live maps still works with tower info. Don't know, hope this is just a temporary problem otherwise i'm going back to the old version.

Runs fine on my 8230--not sure what's happening on yours. I start the app and it show my location like the previous version did.
I don't think you will be able to find the previous version at Google, and since it's installed OTA, you don't have it on your PC either. I hope you can get the current version to work.

Strunke,
Go to GetJar.com and enter Google Maps in the search box and it will come up with ver. 3.0.2. They haven't updated to ver. 3.2 as of this writing and you should be able to download it there. I reverted back to my backed up copy of 3.0.2 after seeing there was no option for bluetooth GPS, hopefully they'll include that in future versions again. Hope that helps.
Well I found a possible old link for the other version. I'm going to try and uninstall and redownload the new version and see what happens. Last time I got a reload software 552 error but did an application update so I was able to evocee it. Strange it's having so many problems. Especially since others have used it successfully...

I used earlier versions of Google Maps with a Freedom Keychain 2000 GPS when I had my Verizon 8830. There wasn't a Bluetooth setting in Google Maps then, but there was a work-around that worked, mostly. Are you saying that 3.2.0 won't work with a Bluetooth GPS, even using the BBMaps work-around?

Thanks for the getjar link!
Yeah the new google maps will not work with Bluetooth GPS even with the bbmaps work around. It seems as though it would just pull from whatever the default GPS source is for the os is but it doesn't.
I ended up getting it to give cell location after I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Along with the google mobile app, gmail. Whatever you do don't install it through the apps program just go to the site directly.
It looks a little nicer. It has layers and sign in ability for some things. But really google? Take this little thing out? If you are listening you need to add that back in why take out any features at all?

Alright well, I uninstalled and reinstalled 3.0.2. Found a direct google link in some digging. Getjar happen to have 3.0.1 so that would have worked too, to those looking for a fix...
and since crackberry is wrapping it here it is with no urls tags...
But I hope they get a better update going.Code:http://m.google.com/maps/download/maps.jad?dc=gorganic&ver=3.0.2
Thank you so much for posting that link. I recently replaced my Pearl with a Bold so I had to download Google Maps again, and I was constantly confronted with the "your current location is unavailable" messages in version 3.2.0. I never had an issue with Google Maps when using the Pearl.
I downloaded 3.0.2 and initially I get the same message, but it lasts for about a second and then I am "found". :)
Thanks again!
Is there anyway to use Google Maps via Wifi without a data plan? I have the email plan which is not a data plan. Would be great if that could be done.
Thanks for the link to the old version (3.0.2). I just installed 3.2.1 and it was much slower and kept scrolling way beyond where I wanted to go on the map. GPS didn't seem to want to get me(in my office it is always tough to get locations though). Even tried 2 reboots and on/off gps in BB options. back to 3.0.2 and it works as it did before! I even checked my memory and BB said I had 17MB, most apps should be running well with that. Unless BB options inaccurately reports memory which could be the case...
