sorry if this has been asked before...
I first setup GMAIL on my pearl through the google website but found I liked the phone's gmail application better.
Now I can't get rid of the gmail icon that google put on my phone.
It doesn't appear as an application so I can't option>advanced>application delete it.
Anyone know?

Try pulling the battery out. You may have already chosen to uninstall it but it requires a soft reset to finish.
